Hi, we’re a church that doesn’t want your money. Seriously, we don’t. We want you to experience generosity. Money is not the goal. Being a fully devoted follower of Christ is the goal, and generosity is a huge part of that. Money is a tool. Generosity is the posture of the heart, and we are passionate about the heart-change that God has in store for you.
Since the start of Life.Church, we’ve had a heart to be generous, but there was a specific moment in our history when God amplified this exponentially. In 2006, Life.Church was growing like crazy. We were stretched financially, sitting with debt and no margin. We had ministry resources that churches were asking to have—and were willing to pay for. The rational solution would have been to sell our resources at a low cost, bless other churches, and help fund all God was doing at Life.Church.
But God was clearly calling our church to something much different. Hearing God’s direction, our leadership made a difficult decision in a difficult time. They decided to do something irrational. They decided Life.Church would give all of the resources we had created (curriculum, sermons, videos, etc.) to other churches for free. There was no business strategy to explain why this was a good idea, but there was a powerful spiritual principle at work that would change our heart, our financial standing, and our influence. This was the beginning of our passion for leading the way with irrational generosity.
Fast forward to today, and we could never have guessed how God would use that decision to radically change our church. We pay cash for every new campus. We still give away videos, graphics, curriculum, trainings, and much more. We’ve created an online community for pastors and church leaders to connect. We give away apps to equip churches with stats, development, leadership, online ministry, giving, Bible engagement, and kids ministry. All for free. We used to ask questions like “How much should we give?” but now we ask “How can we give more?”
Paul says it perfectly in 2 Corinthians 9:11 … you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. The more you give, the more enriched you are—in every way! Why? So that you can always be generous. You are given much to give much, and you don’t give for your glory. Those who are on the receiving end of your generosity will thank God. Over 300,000 people who surrendered their lives to Christ so far at Life.Church are thanking God because of your generosity. Over 400,000 pastors and church leaders are thanking God because of your generosity. With over 250,000,000 installs of the Bible App on smart devices, people all over the world are thanking God because of your generosity.
So yeah, we’re a church that doesn’t want your money. Why? Because we know God doesn’t want your money. He wants your heart. He wants you to experience the blessing of giving and living with a generous heart, which leads you to become a fully devoted follower of Christ.
