Find Your Reason To Live

by finds.life

Have you ever messed up so badly you asked, “Why am I alive?” We’ve all made some really bad decisions in our lives, and we want nothing more than to hide our shame from everyone around us. Whether or not you’re hurting, at some point, all of us find ourselves looking for our reason to live.

We’ve lied and we’ve hurt people we love. We’ve crossed lines we promised we never would. In the moment, it feels good. But as soon as the fun wears off, we’re left with nothing but shame, regret, and guilt.

Maybe nothing ever feels like enough. Life is good, family is good, work is good, but at the end of the day you feel just kind of, “meh.”

You’re not the only one. We’ve all fallen short of the lives we hoped for.

In fact, the Bible says we all experience this. We all make bad choices, and in the end, we all end up in the dark. That darkness is called sin. Sin is those wrong choices that lead to the darkness and shame we feel. Sin is what separates us from God and leaves us feeling like nothing is enough. Unfortunately, that sin steals from our lives. The Bible describes it this way in Romans 6:23 NLT: For the wages of sin is death.

The price for mistakes is death? That sounds pretty harsh. Isn’t God supposed to be loving? Think about it—with each mistake, don’t you feel a little bit less alive? But, that’s not the end of the verse. God is love. It goes on to say, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

God refused to let His kids, you and me, live in darkness. So He created a plan to bring His light to our lives. How do you accept it? How do you find your reason to live? The Bible says this:

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NLT

God sent His Son, Jesus, down to earth to live a perfect, sinless life so that He could pay the price for our sins. Remember the wages of sin thing? They’re paid for by God’s love. And not only did Jesus die for us on a cross we deserved, but also, He conquered death! Why is that important? Because when we believe, not only are we forgiven of our sins—we can overcome them.

So Jesus is inviting all of us to leave the dark, to follow Him, and to find life. Don’t miss this: The Light leads to life.

Jesus already paid the price for every mistake we’ve ever made—the only thing required of us is a response. Only you can decide to accept God’s invitation to remove the darkness of sin from your life and step into His light.

If you’re ready to make that decision to accept Jesus as your Savior and step out of the darkness, to find your reason to live, pray this prayer in your heart or out loud:

Heavenly Father, I know I’ve sinned. I’ve messed up. I need Your grace. I need Your forgiveness. Thank You for sending Your Son to die on the cross for me. I’m ready to stop living in the dark and start living in the Light. My life is Yours—I give it to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
