Which is your favorite season: fall, spring, summer, or winter?
Mine is definitely fall. Sweaters, cool mornings, pumpkin spice lattes, and beautifully colored leaves are my favorite. Of course, with each beginning of a season comes the end of a season. Sometimes that can be exciting, and other times that can feel downright terrifying.
When I got married, I remember feeling the joy and excitement of the new season, but also somber about the end of my unmarried season. That was all I had known. I remember battling so many emotions of excitement, worry, and even fear. I knew I didn’t want to stay in the season I was in, but the familiarity of it made the unknown future seem scary.
Through prayer, I trusted that God had me in His hand and He had the next season prepared in advance for me (Ephesians 2:10).
Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a season for everything under heaven. God perfectly created different seasons on earth to remind us of one truth to hold onto: Change is inevitable, but God is constant. Things change, but our Lord never does.
The Promises of God for a New Season of Life
It could be a job change, the end of a relationship, a heartbreaking diagnosis, or a new baby coming into the world—no matter the reason for the new season, you are not alone.
That’s a frightening but at the same time peaceful thing to be reminded of. No matter the season, we can hold fast to the promises of God’s Word because He is faithful.
It’s nerve-wracking to feel like you have no control over your life. Thankfully, we know who is in control.
- The God who knows the number of grains of sand on the shore has gone before you into this new season and is paving a way for you. (Deuteronomy 31:8)
- The Lord has created you for this moment, this new season, and He has already supplied you with everything you need. (Ecclesiastes 3:11, 2 Peter 1:3)
- You can prayerfully place your trust in Him and believe that what He has brought you to, He will get you through. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Change is inevitable, but God is constant. Whatever this new season brings, you don’t have to face it alone.

Dear God, I can’t see the road ahead. I am afraid of the unknown. Show me how to put my trust in You. Your Word says that Your ways are higher and greater than mine. I believe You and trust You, but help me with my unbelief. Remind me that I am not alone on this road, that You will never leave nor forsake me. No matter what comes next, I believe You have my best interest at heart. I trust that You care for me. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding over me, Jesus. When a season has ended, but you are still holding on, try this prayer for release.
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heavy heart that wants to hold onto a season that was never meant to be permanent. Renew my mind and bring it into alignment with Your will. I lay at Your feet all the ideas and plans I had and stand in faith that the season ahead will bring blessings from You. I let go of what was so I can take hold of Your plans for me. It’s time to start over, either willingly or reluctantly. Talk to God and seek courage through this prayer.
Father God, it’s time for me to begin again, and I don’t know where to start. Walk with me, Lord. Keep me in perfect step with the Holy Spirit, who will guide me into the path of righteousness. Though I don’t know Your plans, I know You are building up a courageous heart within me. Help me remember the lessons from the last chapter and stand firm on Your Word that says You are doing a new thing in me. Heavenly Father, I worship You even though I did not get my way. I trust that Your ways are higher and greater than mine. You have seen things I have not and heard conversations I wasn’t a part of. Heavenly Father, I seek wisdom from heaven. Help me to understand the lesson being taught in this season. You are the source of all understanding. Holy Spirit, guide me in all things, that I may walk the path of Your light, not darkness. Fill me with knowledge about this new season and equip me with everything I will need to tackle whatever comes my way. Open my eyes, that I may see any trap of the enemy, and humble my heart that I might not slip into pride. I trust Your direction, Jesus. Even with all the unknowns, I know You are always faithful. Are you waiting in the hallway, ready for new doors to open up for you? Pray this today.
Dear God, I ask right now that the doors of new and great opportunities be opened to me in the mighty name of Jesus. Break down the walls that hold me back from the relationships that You want me to have with others. I plead the blood of Jesus over my relationships, my job, and my future, and ask You to bless them. Pave the way for opportunities for me to bless others and share Your life-changing love with others. I will not move until You tell me to. Find Peace Through Surrender
Remember, to stay in peace you have to surrender the outcome. Without surrender, there is no peace, only anxiety. Surrender it all to Jesus Christ in prayer today. Jesus is interceding on your behalf right now at the right hand of the Father (Romans 8:34). He gave us the Holy Spirit to be our guide every minute of every day.
